How To: Red/Orange Eyes

Warm eyes can be a challenge for the average makeup user. Understandably so. If you put reds, oranges and the like too far in any direction, you can start looking like you have something wrong with your eye.

Today I wanted to talk a little about where you should place reds, oranges, even pinks and why.

In the picture above I used Ofra Cosmetics Fire Orange all over my lid as my first step. This can be a very scary color when you first look at it.

I'm going to put that all over my lid? YES! Because the first rule with using these colors is to stay controlled. Blend but don't blend too far around the eye. By keeping the Fire Orange on the lid only, we are providing the pop of color without it looking sloppy. Precision is key!
You can also apply this directly under the eye right on the lower lash line while blending it out with another neutral color.

If you wanted to use this orange or others like it as a transition shade for another color on your lid, you can also do that. But stay right in the crease! Don't blend this upward toward your brows or under your eye very far down. Control. Control. Control. Stay toward the eye.

With this look, I did just that. I put Fire Orange on my lid and directly under my eye on my lash line. I then blended Anastasia Beverly Hills Orange Soda directly in the crease and moved the brush upward toward my brow. As a last step I took Lime Crime Creation (from their Venus palette) and blended it in the outer corner on my lid and right under the outer corner on my bottom lash line. Putting dark colors here can open your eye.

In the look featured above I also used ColourPop Over Board gel liner in my water line.

+++ Feel free to be as artistic as you would like with colors. Makeup is an art, there are no set rules. What I mention above is how to make wearable looks for the everyday girl :) +++

Hello! Life Changing Mascara

I have finally found the best mascara.

And it's not what you think.

The Mary Kay Lash Love mascara is the best I've ever used.

Not only is this mascara the most lengthening and defining, it also comes at a great price point.

I went into a Mary Kay "spa night" with no real expectations. I never thought about actually liking the products being used on me. Then this mascara came out and I definitely didn't have high expectations. It could never be like Urban Decay, Tarte, or any of the other brands people tout, right?

Boy was I surprised. As soon as I used it I said "WOW" pretty loudly. The rest of the party was laughing because I was SO into it. They also knew to follow my opinion since I've tried almost every mascara out there. The others soon too found the mascara to be the most lengthening and truly lash boosting and was as quick to order as me. Pitch black, thick lashes for the win.

Get yourself the Mary Kay Lash Love mascara today and tell me what you think!

Empties Roll Call

I thought it was time to share some recent empty products with y'all. All of these products I have tried for the first time. I have thoughts on each below!

Whew, is that a mouthful. This product definitely lives up to it's very long name. Amazing. One of the best concealers I've used. Easy to apply, easy to blend and lasted me a good long time! It isn't heavy on the skin and it also doesn't separate anywhere under the eye. And no creasing!
Summary: Worth the investment.

I'm always perusing the lash aisle at the local pharmacy and picked these guys up due to their understated nature. They seemed to pack a little more punch than the demi-wispie but still not enough for someone to realize they weren't my lashes. Perfect. Well, after wearing them a couple of times, I still prefer the demi-wispies. They will forever be my go-to.

I'm pictured wearing the #110 below.

I've been trying to steer away from chemicals in my every day life as much as possible. I saw this toothpaste in Lush and it seemed like the best alternative. It is powder that comes in a little tub and you dip your toothbrush into it. Overall, not too bad. There isn't a super minty clean feeling afterwards so if you're into that sort of thing, this isn't for you. If you're willing to forgo some traditional toothpaste flavors & consistency, this is really good. My teeth haven't gotten more yellow since ditching my whitening toothpaste and dipping your toothbrush in the tub makes it very convenient.

Your mouth is one of the most absorbent places in your body and there are up to 7 toothpaste ingredients that are toxic according to some. We also end up swallowing at least some in every brushing. So this is definitely an area to read up on if you're trying to eliminate chemicals from your every day life.

Josie Maran Vibrancy Foundation | Review

I've heard amazing things about this foundation, absolutely glowing (no pun intended) reviews. It was time to try it for myself.  Given the fact that my skin is dryer than the sand in the desert, I was very excited.

This foundation is an Allure Magazine 2016 Best of Beauty Winner. It is primarily sold on Sephora.com. I tried going into a store in Philadelphia and they said they didn't carry the Josie Maran makeup in-store. The bottle is 1fl oz for $45. Pretty steep, however, I found you don't need to use a lot.

Sephora was perpetually out of stock so the moment I saw a couple shades come back, I jumped on picking one. Normally I would probably be around a G35 in this foundation but went with the G15 that they had in stock. It's a bit pale but I make it work with bronzer.

I pumped once on the back of my hand and applied this with a Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki brush. I love the argan oil feel to the foundation because I desperately need the hydration. It didn't seem to sink in as well around the more oily parts of my face (chin, jaw) but I would only feel that if I happened to touch those areas.

This is also one of those products you have to give a couple chances. And depending on your skin condition or time of year, it could sit differently on the face. At first I thought it clung to my dry patches. As I used it a couple more times I knew how much to use and how to apply it to get the results I was looking for. Definitely great for the cold months ahead.

Let me know how you feel about this foundation and if there are any other foundations you've tried and loved!
