Josie Maran Vibrancy Foundation | Review

I've heard amazing things about this foundation, absolutely glowing (no pun intended) reviews. It was time to try it for myself.  Given the fact that my skin is dryer than the sand in the desert, I was very excited.

This foundation is an Allure Magazine 2016 Best of Beauty Winner. It is primarily sold on Sephora.com. I tried going into a store in Philadelphia and they said they didn't carry the Josie Maran makeup in-store. The bottle is 1fl oz for $45. Pretty steep, however, I found you don't need to use a lot.

Sephora was perpetually out of stock so the moment I saw a couple shades come back, I jumped on picking one. Normally I would probably be around a G35 in this foundation but went with the G15 that they had in stock. It's a bit pale but I make it work with bronzer.

I pumped once on the back of my hand and applied this with a Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki brush. I love the argan oil feel to the foundation because I desperately need the hydration. It didn't seem to sink in as well around the more oily parts of my face (chin, jaw) but I would only feel that if I happened to touch those areas.

This is also one of those products you have to give a couple chances. And depending on your skin condition or time of year, it could sit differently on the face. At first I thought it clung to my dry patches. As I used it a couple more times I knew how much to use and how to apply it to get the results I was looking for. Definitely great for the cold months ahead.

Let me know how you feel about this foundation and if there are any other foundations you've tried and loved!

Last Minute Skull Makeup On A Budget

Full list of products used:
- All purchased from my local Halloween store
Black eyeshadow
Gray eyeshadow
Black kohl eyeliner
ColourPop Exit liner $5 (Any will do for last minute)
Mascara
de Prettilicious lashes (first pair shown)

This is a look to impress a party full of people without needing an actual costume. There is nothing worse than searching stores and clothes racks at the last minute for a costume. Begging for something to speak to you within the chaos. With this, wear anything black and call it a day. You get to actually be comfortable on Halloween! Imagine that...

It took around an hour & a half to complete all of the makeup and requires a limited amount of products involved.

This look is also completely customizable so feel free to add blood around the mouth or add more color around the face. You can replace a lot of the grays with browns to add more dimension. There are so many ways you can go with it.

Happy Halloween ya'll!

Girlactik Beauty | First Purchase & Review

Girlactik Beauty is one of those companies you hear about and are ready to try if you see them but that's the problem... you don't see their products... anywhere. So when I stumbled upon a wall display in the super Walgreens in Boston, unexpectedly, I spent some time picking out the products to try!

I'm in love.

I don't often have bad reviews but this review is exceptionally good. Let me start with the Face Glow.  It's very bronze so can be worn in the summer with a tan but still such a good range of color that you could pull it off in the winter. I think it would be good for my darker skin gals as well.

There is a pinkish hue to it that you see once on the face. That pink reflection is what makes this highlighter absolutely beautiful. It also packs one hell of a punch. It is $25 which is a fairly well priced highlighter on the market. For the quality & versatility, I think it's worth it.

Lustre is applied on the top of my cheek bones in the picture below. The pink hues show up more as a reflection in person.

Next we have the amazing Matte Lip Paint in Iconic. It sure is iconic. I don't have such a beautiful red in my entire lip collection. If you have Girlactik Beauty products near you, go out and run to buy it! It's a liquid lipstick but creamy enough to not dry out your lips.

The Matte Lip Paints run at $23 which is on the pricey side. I do think these are better than Anastasia Liquid Lipsticks and is comparable if not better than the Jeffree Starr Velour Liquid Lipstick formula.

The staying power is ridiculous on this and what makes it worth those few extra bucks over mainstream competitors. I took the picture below after hours of having the lipstick on my lips.

The other colors look gorgeous as well, especially Flirtatious but Iconic is a color that just jumps out at you. In and outside of the package.

I hope you enjoyed the review and let me know if you have tried Girlactik Beauty for yourself!

My Favorite Face Cream On The Market

While I know it's been a hot minute since I've written (which is terribly unfortunate) I wanted to start again with a product near and dear to my heart: the IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream.

With the cold seasons approaching, this will be any dry skin gal or guys godsend. Thick, creamy & full of hydration, I apply this at least once a day in the morning or at night as a night cream (depending on how dry I feel that day). A little can go a very long way so use sparingly.

I've been using this for a couple of months now and feel the fine lines around my mouth have visibly reduced as well which is an added bonus! I was in a face cream funk when I found this and I'm hooked.

If you have oily skin, I would still try this out but use it as a night cream and only use a very small amount.

If you're looking for a hydrating face cream that will change your world, look no further! Try IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream out and let me know how you love it.

Silver Halo Eye

When I received some of the new Coloured Raine metallic eyeshadows, I knew I wanted to create a halo eye to make them pop in the center.

Products I used include:

The goal of the halo eye is to blend the ouster & inner corners inward with the same color and then put a different color just on the center. A typical halo eye has dark edges and a bright center. Which is why this eyeshadow Flashing Lights was perfect for the occasion.

My palette is a bit dirty which is always a good sign. It means I use it and love it! Shadows are extremely pigmented and there is a really good range of cool and warm matte neutrals.

Try this technique at home and let me know what you think! Tag me in those photos.

Morphe 35P Palette Tutorial

I received this beautiful palette over the weekend and could not wait to get my hands on it and film a tutorial! The colors are beautiful and you can create a great smoky eye with some color which is my personal favorite.

Your can check out more about his palette and buy it here

These shadows are so pigmented that you barely have to tap your brush into them. You see spots in the video where I have to stop applying them because there is so much color on my lid and I wasn't expecting it!

Below is a picture of my first eye look with this palette. I focused the color on the outter corner and thought it came out well. Appropriate for a lot of occasions.

Watch the tutorial for yourself and let me know what you think!

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour | Tailored to Tease

I have recently fallen head over heels and am in LOVE! I've finally found the one...
...liquid lippie.

I am wearing the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Tailored to Tease.

Those MAC kiosks in Macy's constantly pull me in. I'm not a huge MAC fan. Mostly because they switched from being cruelty free once Estee Lauder bought the brand. BOO HISS. However, sometimes I am weak and cave into the visuals. I also used to buy and still use MAC items from the past so it's hard to break the habit.

No one's perfect so stop throwing your stones while you're living in that glass house people!

While purchasing Give Me Sun, which is a darker powder usually used as a bronzer, the sales associate mentioned their new liquid lipcolours. Normally I would pass. Lipsticks aren't really my thing and matte liquid lips are always hit or miss. The formulas are here and there depending on the brand and actually even the color. Also, they had no nudes left. OF COURSE. This is always the case.

As I stood there and reviewed the other colors, the sales associate continued to tell me how amazingly creamy they were (this is not how I would describe liquid lip colors) and showed me the other associate who worked there's lips. She had on the bright red and it looked awesome. She proceeded to tell me she had the same coat on since 8am with no reapplication... and she had eaten lunch.... and it was 3pm when she was saying this.

: : Lightbulb moment : :

I then proceeded to pick Tailored to Tease which is a bright fuchsia. Again, normally not my thing but the associate was really loving that color so I decided to give it a whirl.

Thank the high heavens I tried this! This formula and color is now my new favorite in my lip collection. Really my only favorite besides Americano liquid lipstick by OFRA Cosmetics. It dries quickly and does not transfer at all. It also is so lightweight on the lips that you can't feel it's there. It's smooth and not choppy. Everything I want out of a lipstick, is in this formula.

The MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is $20 and they are sold in stores, kiosks and online. They have some amazing color choices so I suggest checking it out for yourself.

Laneige Skin Care Review

Laneige is a brand I have been loving more and more recently. I originally tried their BB cushion months ago and had done a video on my first impression.

Since then I've tried a couple more products that I feature below after using them for a couple of months. I wanted to get some use out of them before actually reviewing them for you.

Verdict: I love them all!

As I mention in the video, I've also suggested these to a friend who I checked up on and she said they were just as amazing.

Let me know if you try them for yourself and what you think!

ColourPop Haul!

I went a little crazy on the ColourPop website a few weeks back. How could i not? Everything is so CHEAP! And cheap in a good way. A really good way.

I went on the website for one supershock shadow and ended up getting 5. I also got a blush, 2 liquid lipsticks and 3 eyeliners. I've been wanting to get into more colorful waterlines.

It doesn't help me that all of the reviews on the products are stellar and almost every product has at least one reviewer that says THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE! Okay then, I must have it. Duh.

colourpop haul
To the left is a picture of the the shadows, liners and blush opened with their names.

These eye shadows are amazing because they give a glitter aspect that I haven't found in any other eye shadow without fall out. No fall out is huge for me. Probably my biggest pet peeve in makeup.

They're basically formulated as a shimmer or matte with sparkles infused in such a way that they stay where you put them with no extra help from another product or even a brush. Pretty much in love with the formula and the only ones out there like this.

Also, these shadows are $5. A whole tub of amazing glitterness for $5. Find these shadows and others from ColourPop here: ColourPop Super Shock Shadows

The blush Cheerio also looks awesome as a deep, dark fuchsia which I've been into lately. Always great for winter with a light application or even good with a tan. For my skin tone it seems to be the perfect "rosy" color. You can find their blushes here: ColourPop Blushes They currently run for $8.

colourpop liners
To the left I've also swatched the eye liners I received. From left to right: Overboard, Stomper & Cry Baby.

I cannot wait to try Cry Baby in my waterline for a unique brightening effect.

I really love how pigmented these are and how they glide on. You can buy the liners here for $5: ColourPop Creme Gel Liners

Last but not least I also bought some liquid lipsticks called Ultra Matte Lip. I've heard mixed reviews on these and after wearing Bedazzled on New Years day, I have to say I have mixed feelings. I particularly did not like how it faded which is a normal concern I have with liquid lipsticks. It almost crumbled as I reapplied. No bueno. Looked beautiful for the first few hours.

I also bought Chilly Chili and swatched both here to the right.

When I opened the package and swatched everything, the first thing I did was swatch Chilly Chili. Unfortunately there is no guard on the top of the container and it just dripped out of the packaging onto my rug! Complete disaster. I obviously have a problem with that and how easily it drips out. That's not normal. These lipsticks are $6 (which is the cheapest liquid lipstick I've ever seen) and you can find them here: Ultra Matte Lip

So that's it! That was my entire haul with swatches. I have a couple final points I'll note below:

  • One thing I don't like about the shadows and blushes are that you can't just order individual pans. I have a lot of makeup and look for ways to condense my collection, like by using z palettes.
  • I also don't exactly love the way you have to apply the shadows. You have to use your fingers to apply them so they show up as pigmented as they're supposed to. I have never had luck using brushes with these. This gets tricky with precise application and using them on clients.

If you liked any and all of these products or want to get something from ColourPop for yourself, head on over to their website: ColourPop Cosmetics. As soon as you enter the website they currently offer an additional $5 off in exchange for your email!

I hope you all enjoyed the haul and leave a comment below if you have any thoughts or questions! Xo

Black Smoky Eye | How-To

What is there to say about the black smoky eye? It's one of the most simple looking but toughest to achieve makeup looks of all time. That flawless looking gradient to the brow does not come easy.

Below I show you the step by step process to recreate this look with only a few products and tools.
